A comprehensive win against a much changed Tring Corinthians side from the last time we played them.
Couldn’t have started any better as we played some very good football with the ball eventually went played into Darryl a Smith whose lay off enabled Scott Valentine to finish well from the edge of the area. We went 2 up after 4 minutes good slick passing ended with the ball at a Darryl’s feet he went round two defenders before finishing in the bottom right hand corner.
We continued to dominate possession and create very good chances. Tommy Cooke passing up the easiest when one on one with the goalkeeper (a miss that would see him awarded the dick pint after the game).
We extended our lead to 3-0 in the 23rd minute, Scott Valentine won the ball back after a sloppy back pass, played the ball to Darryl Smith who side stepped the defender before passing into an empty net.
We added our 4th after 37 minutes again good interchanging of possession and positions with Darryl playing into Cribb, he found Scott Valentine who passed to Tommy who showed good composure after his earlier miss to wrong foot the keeper for his first of the season. We added a fifth in first half stoppage time, again Scott Valentine the provider with a great pass into Cribb who made no mistake with the first time finish. It remained 5-0 at the break.
We were forced into a change at half time with Jamie Cox being replaced by Peter Maxey for his first appearance of the season.
The second half was less frenetic, some half chances were passed up. Ben Green came on for Toby Cribb after 64 minutes for his appearance of the season. We added our 6th goal on 67 minutes, good combination play down the left saw Ben Green ‘s cut back deflected into Peter Maxey’s path who finished well from 20 yards. Dale Collins came on for Scott valentine after 70 minutes and almost scored immediately following good link up play with Tommy and Darryl but his shot went just wide. Darryl had a chance in injury time to get his hat trick but his lob bounced over the bar on the hard ground. The game finished 6-0 in what was a decent performance in stifling heat on a tricky surface.
