Players deliver the reaction that was required after Codicote loss

After a poor defeat and a poor performance last time out we were looking for a reaction, we got that and more against Mursley.
Jakk Pursey and Zac Ferris came back into the starting line up with Toby Cribb taking the centre forward spot.
Played in a very strong wind we had an early chance when Tommy Cooke was played through but his cross/shot didn’t hit the target.
We took the lead on 9 minutes when a Scott Valentine free kick was headed home over the Mursley keeper by Ross Butler.
Playing against the wind we had to deal with a number of corners, it was defending a corner which led to our 2nd goal on 26 minutes. It was a team goal of great quality. Zac Ferris intercepted a ball in our box and played it up to Tommy Cooke, he in turn found Toby Cribb who laid it off to Scott Valentine, Who’s cross field pass to Jakk Pursey was collected. Jakk found Tommy with a great chip and Tommy finished on his left foot past the keeper. We made it 3 after 36 minutes when good football again resulted in the Mursley keeper making a great save from Toby Cribb the ball was kept alive and Scott Valentine rifled into the roof of the net with his left foot. We made it 4-0 in injury time when another Valentine free kick made its way to Ross Butler who tried to bring it down, he laid it off to Toby Cribb who finished well. It stayed 4-0 at half time.
Obviously the message at half time was to carry on doing what we had done in the first half. The second half was a scrappier affair we made it 5-0 on the hour mark when a mix up in the Mursley defence from a Liam Jahn clearance enabled Toby to get his second when toe poking the ball past the keeper. Scott, Jacob and Smudge made way for Will, Dale and Ben Green.
We conceded a consolation goal after 70 minutes when some sloppy defending enabled Mursley to score with a good finish. We still had time to have a Ben Green goal disallowed for offside. But we managed to see the game out and were good value for our 5-1 win. Man of the match in a good team performance was Peter Maxey.
